Job seekers can breathe a small sigh of relief as the last month has brought a number of job announcements from around the country.
Bookmakers Paddy Power will create 600 new jobs in Dublin in areas such as e-commerce, technology, social media and risk management. These positions will be rolled out by 2015.
Customer support software firm Zendesk will locate its finance and development centre in Dublin bringing 30 jobs over the next two years.
Events firm Consero will also set up in Dublin creating 20 jobs over the next three years.
Eyewear maker Dita will be adding 10 jobs to their Dublin based firm.
ExtenSys are setting up a sales and technical support office which will create 25 jobs in Limerick.
Global games giant Electronic Arts (EA) is creating 300 jobs at its European base in Galway. The new jobs are to allow the company to provide multilingual customer support and services for some of its major game titles. The IDA have estimated that this should create a further 120 jobs in the area in retail and hospitality as a result.
One of the biggest job announcements has come from Kerry Group who announced the creation of 900 jobs in their global innovation centre specialising in food research which they are opening in Naas, Co. Kildare. The Kerry Group who employs 24,000 people globally will roll out 800 of the jobs by 2015 and the remaining 100 by 2016.
