Ireland’s Guide To Money And Living

Free storage in the cloud

As more and more people drift towards smartphones, tablets and other portable devices, the idea of keeping all of your files and information on one computer or hard drive is getting a bit dated. That’s why cloud storage is so handy – once you upload your pictures or documents you can access them from anywhere in the world.

Despite there being some paid-for solutions, if you know where to look you can get cloud storage for free. Online storage provider Pogoplug is the latest – partnering with American media website CNET they are offering 30GB of storage for free for life.

There are lots of other options to consider. Google Drive, for example, will give you 15GB of free storage. And, if you purchase a Chromebook (which runs on Google’s own operating system), you will get an additional 100GB for two years.
