Bank charges m_bartoschBad news from the Irish Independent this week – on several counts.

Firstly, Bank of Ireland is ready to increase their charges for cheques and business fees – the latter could treble. Charlie Weston says that the move is to push customers towards online banking, as electronic banking fees are being cut for both personal and business customers.

Meanwhile, Weston also reports on rising health insurance premiums; a further increase could mean some families will be faced with paying an extra €200 per annum. Higher numbers of claims have been pointed to as one factor in the increases.
