To use the service, customers must register for Me2U with their Visa card details, as well as a valid email address and phone number alongside their Apple or Android mobile device. An AIB code card or card reader is also a requirement. Customers will then create a passcode to use for the Me2U app. To download the app, visit either the Apple or Google Play stores.
Customers can send up to five Me2U payments per day up to a maximum of €300, and payments should take approximately 30 minutes, or up to one day if the recipient’s card has been issued by another institution. If the recipient is not registered for Me2U payments they’ll be directed instead to a Visa collection website – don’t worry, the sender’s account isn’t debited until the payment is collected.
To ensure you can use Me2U with the complete confidence, AIB uses the highest levels of industry standard security. Each install of the Me2U app has a Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) that is installed on the device once the app is linked to the account.
