Ireland’s Guide To Money And Living

Office at school

Microsoft Office

As we mentioned last week, students of all ages across the country are beginning to realise that the new term will be upon them soon enough. If you’ve got a student heading off to third level for the first time, or you’re looking to replace your dying computer, Argos has reduced the price on the HP 21.5-inch all-in-one PC, featuring 8GB RAM and a 1TB hard drive, from €659.99 to €589.99.

Or, if you live in Northern Ireland, you could take advantage of an even cheaper price in Sterling: £399.99 (€467) via argos.co.uk, which delivers to any store within the UK and Northern Ireland.

Office online

Although you can also avail of €30 off Microsoft Home and Office Student 2016 (retailing at €177.99) as part of the deal, Microsoft offers students and teachers (from participating institutions) free access to the online versions of Office, alongside 1TB of free online storage. That suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher and OneNote.

Students and teachers can visit office.com and enter your school-provided email address. Once you’ve signed up you’ll get access to the latest versions of Office 365, which can be installed on up to five PCs/Macs and up to five mobile devices (students who have graduated but are allowed to keep their student email address may also be able to avail of the offer).
