Founded in 2013, Healthwave aims to provide Irish people with affordable medication – Irish prices are quite high, particularly when compared with our closest neighbours, Northern Ireland, sometimes costing up to seven times more.

Their HealthPass subscription service is designed to reduce prescription costs and provide more convenient access to medication. You pay for a yearly membership — €25 per adult or €60 per family — and then have access to an average 50% reduction on medications. There are a number of other useful aspects, including free delivery around the country, and a free 24 hour blood pressure monitoring service.

According to Healthwave, their average member saves between €200 and €500 per year.

Based in Dundrum, Healthwave has also recently launched the country’s first mobile pharmacist service. Where before customers had to visit the Healthwave pharmacist in Dundrum, they can now book a home visit from a pharmacist to review their prescription, discuss the correct doses, with the medication delivered the next day.
