For those of you who are unaware, this week is LinkedIn’s Week of Learning, running from October 24th to 30th – all courses are free during this period. There’s a host of useful topics on offer across business, creative and technology, ranging from Excel training and SEO essentials to graphic design and the fundamentals of web design, sure to provide a boost to your CV.
“Almost 25 years ago, I began my career with the long-term aspiration to help improve our education system. Since joining LinkedIn, that passion has only grown stronger. That’s one of many reasons I’m excited to announce the Week of Learning. From October 24-30, you’ll be able to access over 5,000 courses on LinkedIn Learning, and it’s all completely free (no fine print, no catches, and no credit card required),” said LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner, launching the week. “If you’re wondering why, look no further than our vision: To create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce. That’s what we’re working towards every day, and our newly introduced LinkedIn Learning platform has been developed to further realise that vision.”
Wondering what you should choose? LinkedIn has also released a global list of key workplace skills in 2016 which are mostly likely to get you hired. Sitting at the top of that list, unsurprisingly, is cloud and distributed computing, followed closely by statistical analysis and data mining, and web architecture and development framework. If you’re not working in IT, perhaps now is the time to consider a move to that field.
“Given the rapidly accelerating rate of innovation in the world, it’s increasingly important for all of us to take advantage of learning experiences that can better prepare us for the career opportunities that are and will be, and not just those that once were,” Weiner added. “Now is a great time to start.”
