Xbox Live Assassin's Creed

There are a number of video games and series out there that can completely transport gamers to another world, like Rockstar’s fabulous Red Dead Redemption (remember the theme that plays when you enter Mexico?), the post apocalyptic world of Fallout 3, or The Last of Us, a universally acclaimed masterpiece that is a contender for the title of Greatest Videogame of All Time.

For me – an avid history enthusiast – the Assassin’s Creed series offers the same atmospheric feeling that few other titles can offer, alongside a window into history; exploring 12th century Jerusalem, encountering famed polymath Leonardo da Vinci, fighting in the American Revolutionary War, sailing the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy or roaming the streets of Victorian London.

Fans of the series (or at least those with an Xbox Live Gold subscription) can now get their hands on a free copy of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations for the Xbox 360 until April 30th (normally €9.99). The 2011 instalment features previous protagonists Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad and Ezio Auditore da Firenze, mainly set in Constantinople (now Istanbul) in 1511AD.
