Scouting online is a great way to quickly compare prices, and oftentimes you’ll find something a lot cheaper on the internet, or benefit from an online discount. Meteor, for example, generally offer a lower price for buying phones from their online store. This isn’t always the case, however.

Writing in this week’s Irish Independent, Louise McBride warns consumers that visiting a real store could save you some money over the festive period. For example, she notes that one of the expected major sellers – a Frozen Elsa doll – was €20 in the Disney Store on Grafton Street, and more than twice the price on eBay in some cases.

Several dolls originated in the US, so when factoring in the cost of shipping, you could end up forking a lot more than the bus fare into town and the Nutrigrain bar that keeps you going as you walk up and down Grafton Street.
