Ireland’s Guide To Money And Living

Buy me!

Buy me

Hate choosing between the early kick-off and doing the weekly shop every Saturday? You might be interested to hear there’s a new player in the grocery delivery business in Dublin City. Buymie is an on-demand grocery service (delivered via an app), which promises to get your shopping to your door in as little as an hour. Currently available on iTunes (and hopefully Android very soon), simply choose the products you want from local stores such as Tesco, Lidl and Aldi and have your shopping delivered between 1-3 hours.

Revenue is currently generated by mark-up on purchases, though the company has said that it aims to introduce a subscription-based model in partnership with retailers, where shops would pay to be featured in the app, and users would then pay the in-store price. Delivery charges are €5.99 (with a minimum order of €5 – if you only shop in Tesco, you might be better off sticking with their Delivery Saver scheme, which offers free delivery as long you spend over €50.

If you live a good distance from your nearest favourite shopping haunt, it might be worth it for the petrol you’ll save. And, for new customers, you’ll get the first delivery free with the code BUYMIE.
