Assassin’s Creed III for free

Assassin's Creed III

Good news for fans of the Assassin’s Creed video game series this month – you can download a copy of Assassin’s Creed III for your PC for a month from December 7th if you sign up (also for free) to the Ubisoft Club. The promotion is the last offer as part of Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary celebrations – previous freebies have included Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Splinter Cell and Rayman Origins. Last month’s free game, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, should be still available for those who sign up to the club.

Assassin’s Creed III was originally released in 2012 and follows the story of series protagonist Desmond Miles and his ancestor, the half-English, half-Mohawk Connor, as he battles the Templars in 18th century America, before, during and after the American Revolution. Set in an open world, you can explore the cities of Boston and New York, as well as the American Frontier.

Just make sure your PC can handle it – according to Steam the minimum requirements include Windows Vista (SP2), a 2.60GHz processor, 2 GB of memory, and hard drive space of 17GB.

And there’s lots of other gaming deals around this week. You can get a 1TB PS4 Pro for €399.99 at Argos (was €469.99), bundled with a copy of Tom Clancy’s The Division for free. Xbox One owners aren’t left out – there’s €33 off the Xbox One Kinect sensor (now €139.99), and the 1TB console bundled with Gears of War 4 is reduced from €399.99 to €349.99.

If you prefer to do your shopping in Smyths Toys, and you’re looking for something for the kids, they’ve got a PS4 500GB bundle for €329.99 including copies of Ratchet and Clank and LEGO Star Wars, or €389.99 for a 1TB Xbox One which comes with two controllers and copies of FIFA 17 and Minecraft.
